Collapse quiet stretches on the timeline

You can now compress quiet date ranges on a chronological timeline so the events that matter sit closer together — no more scrolling through months of empty space to compare two clusters of activity.

What is new

  • Lightning-bolt button in the timeline Views toolbar opens a new Collapse range dialog.
  • Pick a start and end date to define the range you want to compress. The selected interval shrinks to a compact visual gap on the timeline.
  • Toggle individual ranges on or off directly from the timeline — handy when you want to temporarily expand a collapsed period without deleting it.
  • Edit or remove ranges from the same popper at any time.
  • Multiple collapsed ranges are supported on the same timeline; overlapping ranges are merged automatically.

Why it is useful

Cases often have long quiet periods between bursts of activity (for example a year between an initial filing and a hearing). Collapsing those gaps keeps the timeline scannable while preserving the real dates — clicks and tooltips still resolve to the correct date underneath the compressed segment.

How it works

Open any chronological timeline → click the lightning-bolt icon in the Views toolbar → add a date range. The collapsed range is saved per timeline, so the view stays consistent the next time you open the case.
